Plain English Summary

3/10 complexity

This order declares a specific class of refractory fired bricks (tariff classification 6902.20.00) to which Part III, Schedule 4 item 50 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995 applies, effective 12 December 2006 until revoked under sections 269SC or 269SD. It sets tight technical requirements for the goods (alumina, silica, iron oxide, bulk density and ceramic bond). Importers of bricks that meet these specs will have their tariff treatment changed under the referenced Schedule 4 item, which alters import costs and sourcing incentives.
