What it does:
- Removes customs duty on imports of ballistic separators falling under tariff classification 8479.89.90
- Applies Item 50 of the Customs Tariff Act 1995, which provides a zero-duty rate for goods covered by a valid TCO
Who it affects:
- Waste management and recycling companies importing these machines
- Australian businesses buying ballistic separators from overseas manufacturers
Key details:
- Effective from: 14 September 2005
- Duration: Remains in force until revoked under sections 269SC or 269SD of the Customs Act
- Legal basis: Made under the Customs Act 1901 by a delegate of the Chief Executive Officer
A TCO is an administrative instrument that grants tariff relief when no substitutable Australian-made goods are produced locally.
