### 849 Notice of appointment of taxation > > (1)  Before a bill of costs is filed for taxation, the order or judgment directing or authorising the taxation must be filed. > > > (2)  On the filing of a bill of costs for taxation and compliance with [subrule (1)](#GS849@Gs1@EN) , the taxing officer is to appoint a date and time for taxation. > > > (3)  The party whose costs are to be taxed is to give to each other party a copy of the bill of costs and 2 days' notice of the taxing officer's appointment to tax the costs. > > > (4)  In case of urgency, the taxing officer may direct that one day's notice be given. > > > (5)  Copies of the bill of costs and notice of taxation are not required to be given to a party who has not appeared in the proceeding if an appearance was required to be entered.
