### 838 Special fee
> The taxing officer may allow a special fee if of the opinion that –
>
> > > (a) because of the length of an attendance or the difficulty of a case, a fee allowable under [rule 837](#GS837@EN) is insufficient remuneration for the services performed; or
> >
> > > (b) the preparation of a case has required skill and labour for which a fee has not been allowed; or
> >
