### 52 Extension or abridgment of period > > (1)  The Court or a judge may extend or abridge the period for doing any act or taking any proceedings allowed or limited by these rules or by any order of the Court or a judge on any terms the Court or judge considers just. > > > (2)  An extension of any period may be ordered although the application is made after the expiration of the period originally allowed or limited. > > > (3)  The costs of an application and an order made under [subrule (1)](#GS52@Gs1@EN) are to be borne by the applicant unless the Court or a judge otherwise orders.
