### 42 Verification of service or execution
> > (1) The service or execution of any document or process by the Sheriff or by any person who is not an officer of the Sheriff charged with the service or execution of the document or process is proved by a return under [subrule (2)](#GS42@Gs2@EN) .

> > (2) A return is to –

> > > > (a) state by whom the document or process has been served or executed; and

> > > > (b) state the date and mode of service or execution; and

> > > > (c) be signed by the Sheriff or the person who is charged with its service or execution.
