51 Deputy sheriffs (1) Subject to this Act and the directions of the sheriff, a deputy sheriff may exercise the functions of the sheriff under this Act or another territory law. Note A reference to an Act includes a reference to the statutory instruments made or in force under the Act, including regulations and rules (see Legislation Act, s 104). (2) In exercising the functions of the sheriff, a deputy sheriff has all the rights, privileges, immunities and liabilities of the sheriff. Officers Part 4 (3) The exercise of a function by a deputy sheriff does not affect the power of the sheriff to exercise the function.
