Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This document is a formal proclamation by the Governor-General that sets the start date for part of the Superannuation Legislation Amendment (Early Release of Superannuation) Act 2011. It declares that Schedule 1 of that Act commences (becomes active law) on 1 November 2011.

Who it affects: While the underlying Schedule affects superannuation fund members and trustees, this proclamation itself is an administrative mechanism. It legally fixes the exact moment when those new rules took effect, allowing funds and regulators to prepare.

Why it matters: Parliament sometimes passes laws without immediate effect, leaving the start date to be "proclaimed" (officially set) later by the Governor-General. This document provides the legal certainty needed to know precisely when the early release provisions became enforceable.
