legislative instrument

Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

The instrument records a ministerial declaration (s.3, Superannuation Act 1976) that people engaged for service in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands who began contributing under the 6 April 1978 s.11 direction are to be treated as “temporary employees.” It therefore fixes their statutory category under the Act, affecting which contribution, entitlement and administrative rules apply to that narrow cohort and aligning legal status with the earlier contribution direction.
