Commonwealth legislation
This regulation creates optional lump-sum benefits and adjusts pension formulas for former Provident Account contributors who became eligible employees under the Superannuation Act 1976. It adds a new Division 7 (ss196–211) allowing written elections to receive lump sums in specified retirement, invalidity, death or retrenchment scenarios; payments are calculated by alternative formulas (multiples of accumulated contributions or salary-based amounts), and past payments to the former Board may be added with interest (see ss197–201, 221).
