Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This declaration lets employees of the Conservation Commission of the Northern Territory join the Commonwealth Superannuation Scheme (CSS) — the defined-benefit superannuation scheme originally designed for Australian Government employees.

What this means:

Staff working for this Northern Territory conservation body become eligible to accumulate retirement benefits under the Commonwealth super scheme
This effectively extends federal public service superannuation conditions to a specific Territory government employer
The declaration took effect on 1 July 1992

The legal mechanism: The Minister declares the Commission an "approved authority" under the Superannuation Act 1976. This is a standard administrative instrument that adds an employer to the list of organisations whose employees can join the CSS.
