17Section 9(2) of the *Superannuation and Family Benefits Act Amendment Act 1985* (No. 78 of 1985) reads as follows —

17 Section 9(2) of the *Superannuation and Family Benefits Act Amendment Act 1985* (No. 78 of 1985) reads as follows — “ (2) The amendments made by subsection (1)(a) and (b) have effect in respect of every fortnightly payment of a pension or allowance that is payable under the principal Act on or after 1 January 1986. ”. 18 Part 4 of the *Superannuation Legislation Amendment Act 1993* (No. 8 of 1993) provides for transitional arrangements as a consequence of that Act and, in particular, section 81 of that Act reads as follows — “ 81. Certain benefits arising during transition period If on or after 1 July 1992 but before all of the provisions of this Act commenced, circumstances occurred that would, if all of the provisions of this Act had commenced, have entitled a person to a benefit or payment, the person is entitled to the benefit or payment as if all of the provisions of this Act had already commenced when the circumstances occurred. ”.
