Commonwealth act
This Act has been repealed and is no longer in force. It is retained for historical reference.
This Act changes how the Commonwealth pays States for university funding: it adjusts many grant amounts and project schedules, adds new specific payments (including a repair grant), and lets the Commonwealth reimburse States for eligible sums they paid to universities during specified past periods. Payments are made to States under conditions and aggregate caps, and the Treasurer may borrow to meet certain payments. It affects Commonwealth and State budgets, university project funding and reporting obligations, and gives ministers discretion to authorise or limit reimbursements.
