Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This Act makes a one‑off federal "top‑up" payment in 1954–55 to each Australian State so that each receives at least the amount they would have gotten if the total tax‑reimbursement pool had been £150 million. It fills the gap between actual 1946 Act receipts and that £150 million benchmark.

It affects the six States and serves as a temporary budgetary guarantee supplementing the existing tax‑reimbursement scheme.
