Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

The law authorises one-off federal grants to Queensland ($36.3m for 1975–76) and South Australia ($2.5m for 1975–76) to assist their budgets. Payments come from the Consolidated Revenue Fund and are reduced by any amounts already paid under the 1974 Act.

The Treasurer decides timing and instalments and may pay Queensland up to $18.15m in the first half of 1976–77. This is a temporary, specific funding measure rather than ongoing assistance.
