##### 9 Conditions of grant of financial assistance (1) The grant of financial assistance to a State in accordance with section 8 is subject to the condition that the State will comply with this section. (2) A State shall, out of moneys paid to it under section 8 in respect of a year, expend during that year, on the construction of national highways, in accordance with an approved program for that year, an amount equal to the amount that is applicable to the State in respect of that year in accordance with Schedule 2. (3) A State shall, out of moneys paid to it under section 8 in respect of a year, expend during that year, on the maintenance of national highways, in accordance with an approved program for that year, an amount equal to the amount that is applicable to the State in respect of that year in accordance with Schedule 3. (4) A State shall, out of moneys paid to it under section 8 in respect of a year, expend during that year, on the construction of national commerce roads, in accordance with an approved program for that year, an amount equal to the amount that is applicable to the State in respect of that year in accordance with Schedule 4.
