Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act provides financial assistance (money) from the Australian Government to three specific states: South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania.

What it does:

Appropriates (sets aside) £5,042,000 from the government's main bank account (the Consolidated Revenue Fund) to be paid to these three states during the 1947-48 financial year.

How the money is split:

South Australia: £2,318,000
Western Australia: £1,977,000
Tasmania: £747,000

Why it matters: This is a grants law. It allows the federal government to transfer funds to state governments to help them pay for services and infrastructure. This was common in the post-war era to help states with smaller populations or less economic activity maintain essential services.
