Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This law authorises the federal government to give financial assistance (grants) to three Australian states: South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania.

What it does:

Approves a total payment of £12,175,000 (twelve million one hundred and seventy-five thousand pounds) for the financial year that started on 1 July 1950
Splits this money between the three states:
- South Australia: £5,332,000
- Western Australia: £5,839,000
- Tasmania: £1,004,000
Takes the money from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (the Commonwealth's main bank account holding tax revenue and other income)

Who it affects: The three recipient states, which receive the funds to support their budgets. This was part of the system of federal financial assistance to states with smaller populations or economies.

Why it matters: It formalises a specific year's worth of federal funding to these states, ensuring the payments are legally authorised and properly sourced from government revenue.
