Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act authorises the federal government to pay £2 million (in 1934 currency) to the six Australian states as financial assistance for the 1934-35 financial year. It works as a simple payment schedule:

New South Wales: £786,000
Victoria: £550,000
Queensland: £286,000
South Australia: £176,000
Western Australia: £133,000
Tasmania: £69,000

The money comes from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (the government's main bank account). The federal Treasurer has discretion over exactly when and how to transfer the funds to each state. This is a straightforward "one-off" appropriation with no ongoing conditions attached to the payments.
