72 Provisions relating to children's and adult children's pensions
S. 72(1) amended by Nos 49/1992 s. 26, 40/2010 s. 90(2).
(1) A child or adult child is only entitled to a pension if at the date of the death of the revised scheme member, new scheme member or pensioner the child or adult child was wholly or partly dependent on him or her or had a legal right to look to him or her for financial support.

(2) If pensions are payable in respect of a child or adult child as a child or adult child of more than one revised scheme member or new scheme member only the pension which is the greater is payable in respect of that child or adult child.

(3) Despite anything to the contrary in this Act, any money payable out of the Fund in respect of a child or adult child may at the discretion of the Board be paid to a person directed by the Board on behalf and for the benefit of the child or adult child or expended by the Board for the benefit of the child or adult child.
