What it does
Who it affects
Why it matters This is a routine annual quota determination that prevents overfishing by restricting how much fishing equipment can be deployed. It implements sustainable fishing limits set under the broader Southern Squid Jig Fishery Management Plan. The number (550 machines) represents the total allowable effort (TAE) permitted across the entire fishery for the year.
