Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

These regulations declare the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone Consultative Committee to be an international organisation under the International Organizations (Privileges and Immunities) Act 1963. They give the Committee corporate legal personality, capacity to hold property and sue or be sued, and confer specified privileges and immunities on people participating in its work; the Committee may waive those immunities.

The rules therefore affect the Committee, its personnel and mission participants, and Australian authorities handling legal process, property and taxation by altering legal standing and limits on enforcement and liability.
