25Receipt of information to be acknowledged

25 Receipt of information to be acknowledged S. 25(1) amended by No. 37/2014 s. 10(Sch. item 154.2). (1) As soon as is practicable after receiving a report under this Part, the police officer or other person receiving the report must acknowledge the making of the report. S. 25(2) amended by No. 55/2025 s. 75(1). (2) The acknowledgement must be in writing, must be given to the person who made the report and must include— S. 25(2)(a) amended by No. 37/2014 s. 10(Sch. item 154.2). (a) the name and signature of the police officer or other person who received the report; and (b) the date and time when, and the place where, the report was received; and (c) a copy of the information that was reported. S. 25(3) amended by No. 55/2025 s. 75(1). (3) The Chief Commissioner of Police must ensure that a copy of every acknowledgement is retained.
