6Nature of proceeding

6 Nature of proceeding (1) A proceeding under this Act in a court is civil in nature, unless otherwise provided by this Act. (2) A proceeding referred to in subsection (1) is not a civil proceeding to which the rules regulating the practice and procedure of a court in a civil proceeding apply. Section 4(2)(j) of the **Civil Procedure Act 2010** provides that that Act does not apply to proceedings under the **Serious Offenders Act 2018**.
