162 Police officer may arrest without warrant
(1) A police officer may arrest without warrant an offender if the police officer reasonably suspects that the offender has committed an offence against section 169.

(2) An offender who is arrested under this section must, as soon as practicable after the arrest, be—
(a) remanded in custody; or
(b) released on bail in accordance with the **Bail Act 1977**; or
(c) released unconditionally.
(3) In addition to the requirements of the **Bail Act 1977**, any period that an offender has been detained under Division 1 must be taken into account in determining whether the offender should be released on bail.
