### 74 Termination of assessment order
> > (1) [*\[Section 74 Subsection (1) amended by No. 21 of 1999, s. 47, Applied:01 Nov 1999\]*](/view/html/inforce/1999-11-01/act-1999-021#GS47@Hpe@EN) [*\[Section 74 Subsection (1) amended by No. 21 of 1999, s. 47, Applied:01 Nov 1999\]*](/view/html/inforce/1999-11-01/act-1999-021#GS47@Hpd@EN) On the expiry of an assessment order, or at any time before that expiry if an approved medical practitioner or responsible medical officer applies, the court, after considering a report from the practitioner or officer specifying the results of the assessment, may –

> > > > (a) make an order under [section 75](#GS75@EN) ; or
> > >
> > > > (b) pass sentence on the person.
>
> > (2) If the sentence referred to in [subsection (1)(b)](#GS74@Gs1@Hpb@EN) is a term of imprisonment, the court must deduct the period of time that the person was detained under the assessment order from that term.
