16 Suspension of licence
(1) [Section 16 Subsection (1) amended by No. 39 of 2010, s. 17, Applied:01 Jul 2011] The Director, by notice served on the holder of a licence, may suspend the licence for a period not exceeding 90 days if satisfied that it is in the public interest to do so.
(2) [Section 16 Subsection (2) amended by No. 39 of 2010, s. 17, Applied:01 Jul 2011] [Section 16 Subsection (2) amended by No. 58 of 2005, s. 16, Applied:01 Jan 2006] If a court convicts a person of an offence under this Act, the court, in addition to imposing any penalty, may suspend the licence held by the person.
(3) A suspended licence ceases to have effect during the period of suspension.
(4) [Section 16 Subsection (4) amended by No. 58 of 2005, s. 16, Applied:01 Jan 2006] The suspension of a licence under subsection (1) takes effect on the date of service of the notice.
