Tasmania regulation
This order removes the Second‑hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 1994 from applying to persons who are licensed motor vehicle traders under the Motor Vehicle Traders Act 2011 when they deal in motor vehicles. It took effect on 1 April 2012.
Practically, motor vehicle traders selling cars no longer operate under the second‑hand dealers/pawnbrokers rules; compliance obligations and enforcement for those transactions instead fall within the motor‑vehicle trader regulatory framework, shifting who enforces and who bears compliance costs (s4).
