### 9 Duty to obtain proof of identity, &c. > > (1) A second-hand dealer or pawnbroker must not receive any goods in the course of business unless the person who sells, supplies or pawns the goods produces documentary proof of identity showing his or her correct name and address. > > > (2) A second-hand dealer or pawnbroker who contravenes [subsection (1)](#GS9@Gs1@EN) is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
