Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This 1938 law is a straightforward funding bill. It transfers £250,000 from the government's main bank account (the Consolidated Revenue Fund) into a special dedicated account called the Science and Industry Capital Trust Account.

The money can only be spent on one thing: building and equipping laboratories for the Commonwealth Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (the predecessor to today's CSIRO).

Think of it as the government creating a special savings account for science labs and depositing a quarter of a million pounds into it.
