Plain English Summary

What this regulation does

This instrument repeals (cancels) two older sets of rules made under the Science and Industry Research Act 1949:

Statutory Rules 1978 No. 288 – the original Science and Industry Research (Advisory Council and State Committees) Regulations
Statutory Rules 1981 No. 31 – amendments to those regulations

Who it affects

This change affects the administration of scientific research at the Commonwealth level, specifically the governance structures for advisory councils and state committees that advised on science and industry matters (historically associated with what is now CSIRO).

Why it matters

This is a housekeeping measure that tidies up the statute book by removing outdated administrative rules. It suggests the advisory body structures created in 1978 were either abolished, consolidated, or replaced by new arrangements that no longer required these specific regulations.
