Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this law does:

This Act takes £250,000 from the government's main bank account (the Consolidated Revenue Fund) and puts it toward scientific and industrial research.

Key details:

The money: £250,000 (roughly $25 million in today's value)
Where it goes: Into a special trust account called the Science and Industry Investigation Trust Account
Why: To fund research activities established under the Science and Industry Research Act 1920–1926 (which set up Australia's federal scientific research body, now known as CSIRO)

In simple terms: This is a budget approval law. Parliament is authorising a specific cash payment for science. Appropriation Acts like this are typically passed annually to release funds for government programs, and they do nothing else—no new rules, no new offences, just the money.
