Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This declaration (commencing 1 October 2017) declares Aboriginal Hostels Ltd (ACN 008 504 587) to be a 'Commonwealth authority' under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988, so the Act's workplace injury and compensation regime applies to that body (cl 2, cl 4). The Minister made the declaration and repealed item 3 of the 2007 notice to record that change (cl 5). Mechanically, it places SR&C compliance obligations and related costs on Aboriginal Hostels Ltd as the entity subject to the Act.
