Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

These regulations abolish (repeal) the 1919 rules that created a mine-sweeping unit within Australia's naval forces, along with amendments from 1919 and 1920.

What it does:

Cancels outdated regulations: Wipes the Royal Australian Naval Reserve (Mine-Sweeping Section) Regulations off the books
Protects existing rights: Anyone who gained legal rights, duties, or status under the old rules keeps them—this doesn't erase past actions, accrued entitlements, or existing liabilities (a standard "savings clause")

Who it affects:

Former members of the naval mine-sweeping section (active during and after World War I)
The Department of Defence

Why it matters: This is post-war housekeeping from 1926. Mine-sweeping (clearing explosive naval mines from harbours) was vital during WWI, but by the mid-1920s these specific reserve structures were no longer needed, so the government tidied up the statute books.
