154 Definitions for pt 6.4 component identification number, for a vehicle part of a registrable vehicle, means the number and any accompanying letters or symbols stamped on, or otherwise attached to, the part as a way of identifying the part, but does not include a casting number or a number used to identify a class of parts for manufacturing purposes. vehicle part, of a registrable vehicle, means⎯ (a) the vehicle’s engine; or (b) the vehicle’s engine block; or (c) for a motor vehicle other than a motorbike—the vehicle’s chassis, chassis sub-frame or body; or (d) for a motorbike or motortrike—the vehicle’s frame or crankcase.
