#### 8 Use of lights on vehicles generally 8 Use of lights on vehicles generally > > (1) A person must not cause or permit a light or other device fitted to a vehicle to be used in contravention of the [Road Rules 2014](/view/html/inforce/current/sl-2014-0758), rule 218–1. > > > > Maximum penalty—20 penalty units. > > > (2) Subsection (1) does not apply to the driver of the vehicle. > > > > Note. > > > > A driver who uses a light or other device fitted to the driver’s vehicle in contravention of the [Road Rules 2014](/view/html/inforce/current/sl-2014-0758), rule 218–1 will commit an offence against the rule.
