> > (1) For the purposes of the Act, section 158(1), an exemption may be granted—

> > > (a) by order published in—
> > >
> > > > (i) the Gazette, or
> > >
> > > > (ii) a newspaper circulating in New South Wales, or
> >
> > > (b) by written notice—

> > > > (i) signed by a person who has received written authorisation from Transport for NSW to give the exemption, and
> > >
> > > > (ii) given to the person who is, or whose vehicle is, to be exempted.

> > (2) An exemption granted in the manner provided by subsection (1)(b) may in the same manner be rescinded.

> In relation to subsection (1)(a), the [Interpretation Act 1987](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1987-015), section 43(2) provides that if an Act or statutory rule confers a power on a person or body to make an order, whether or not the order must be in writing, the power includes power to amend or repeal an order made in the exercise of the power.
