81 Notice of renewal of registration (1) The Secretary may send the registered operator of a vehicle a notice of renewal of registration stating that the registration of the vehicle will expire if the registration of the vehicle is not renewed on or before the date specified in the notice. (2) If the Secretary fails to send a notice of renewal of registration for a vehicle, the failure does not affect— (a) the expiry of the vehicle's registration; or (b) the obligation of the registered operator of the vehicle to renew the registration of the vehicle, if the operator intends to use the vehicle on a highway after the vehicle's existing registration expires.
