291 Other lights to be in working order (1) A person must not use a vehicle on a highway if— (a) the vehicle is not equipped with brake lights or signal direction indicator lights; and (b) the vehicle is required to be equipped with brake lights or signal direction indicator lights in accordance with the standards for registration or would be so required if the vehicle were registered. (2) A person must not use a vehicle on a highway if— (a) the vehicle is equipped with brake lights or signal direction indicator lights; and (b) the brake lights or signal direction indicator lights are not in working order in accordance with the standards for registration that apply to the vehicle or that would apply if the vehicle were registered. (3) A person must not use a vehicle on a highway if— (a) the vehicle is equipped with brake lights or signal direction indicator lights in accordance with the standards for registration; and (b) the brake lights or signal direction indicator lights are not clean and unobscured.
