These Rules amend the Road Rules 2019 and take effect on the day their making is published in the Gazette. They apply to everyone governed by the Road Rules 2019 — for example drivers, road users and enforcement agencies. Compliance costs and any behavioural changes fall on those subject to the Road Rules; the Department of State Growth administers the instrument. The instrument here records the amendment and its incorporation into the authorised Road Rules 2019 but does not set out the substantive amendment text.

In these rules, the Road Rules 2019 are referred to as the Principal Rules.
