#### 96 Establishment of residents committee 96 Establishment of residents committee > > (1) The residents of a community may by resolution establish a residents committee. > > > (2) The resolution must be carried by a majority of residents of the community at a meeting to which all residents of the community have been invited. The meeting is referred to as the establishment meeting. > > > > Note. > > > > Section 98 provides for the election of the members of the residents committee at the establishment meeting. > > > (3) The operator of a community must not— > > > > > (a) discourage or prevent the establishment or continued existence of a residents committee, or > > > > > (b) require a residents committee to be incorporated or to take out any form of insurance. > > > > Maximum penalty—20 penalty units.
