#### 12 Purposes for which functions under Part may be exercised 12 Purposes for which functions under Part may be exercised > > (1) An authorised officer may exercise the functions conferred by this Part for 1 or more of the following purposes— > > > > > (a) investigating, monitoring and enforcing compliance with the following in carrying out building work— > > > > > > > (i) this Act and the regulations, > > > > > > > (ii) the performance requirements of the Building Code of Australia, > > > > > > > (iii) the relevant Australian Standards, > > > > > > > (iv) the relevant approved plans, > > > > > (b) investigating whether buildings have serious defects, > > > > > (c) obtaining information or records for purposes connected with the administration of this Act, > > > > > (d) enforcing, administering or executing this Act. > > > (2) In this Part, a reference to an authorised purpose is a reference to a purpose referred to in subsection (1).
