#### 671 Production of synthetic rutile (1) The production of synthetic rutile is the chemical transformation of ilmenite ore (ore containing FeTiO3) through the reduction of iron oxides in order to increase the titanium dioxide (TiO2) concentration to produce synthetic rutile that: (a) has a titanium dioxide (TiO2) concentration equal to or greater than 88% and less than 95.5%; and (b) has an iron (Fe) concentration greater than 0.5%. (2) The production of synthetic rutile is specified as an emissions‑intensive trade‑exposed activity.
