2AExercise of powers of Administrator where no office of Administrator [see Note 2]

#### 2A Exercise of powers of Administrator where no office of Administrator \[see Note 2\] (1) Where there is no office of Administrator in respect of a Territory, the Governor‑General may, by order published in the Gazette: (a) declare that an office specified in the order shall, for the purposes of the application of this Act in relation to that Territory, be substituted for the office of Administrator; or (b) authorize a person named in the order to exercise and perform, in relation to that Territory, the powers and functions of an Administrator under this Act. (2) A reference in this Act to the Administrator of a Territory shall, in relation to a Territory in respect of which an order is in force under the last preceding subsection, be read as a reference to: (a) the person occupying, or acting in, the office specified in the order; or (b) the person named in the order; as the case may be.
