#### 6 Assistant Returning Officers and Assistant Divisional Returning Officers (1) The Electoral Commissioner may, for the purposes of a referendum, appoint a person to be an Assistant Returning Officer. (2) A person appointed to be an Assistant Returning Officer may, subject to the control of the Electoral Commissioner, perform such functions and exercise such powers as are conferred on the person by this Act. (3) An appointment under subsection (1) terminates upon completion of the referendum. (4) An Assistant Divisional Returning Officer for a Subdivision may, subject to the directions of the Divisional Returning Officer for the Division in which the Subdivision is situated, perform the functions and exercise the powers of the Divisional Returning Officer in relation to that Subdivision.
