Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This short, time‑limited Act let the Australian Electoral Office reuse regular federal election equipment—ballot boxes and polling booths—to run a special public poll choosing the national song within three months of the law starting. It affected the Chief Australian Electoral Officer and voters nationwide and was a practical, cost‑saving measure to avoid buying separate voting kit for the one‑off poll.
