27Exemption may be granted subject to conditions

#### 27 Exemption may be granted subject to conditions (1) The Minister may grant an exemption in relation to regulated waste material, subject to any conditions that the Minister considers are necessary. > Note: Conditions of an exemption may be varied (see section 30). (2) In considering whether it is necessary to impose conditions on an exemption, the Minister must have regard to: (a) the objects of this Act; and (b) the matters (if any) prescribed by the rules. (3) A person contravenes this subsection if: (a) the person is the holder of an exemption in force under this Part; and (b) the person engages in conduct; and (c) the conduct contravenes a condition of the exemption. Fault‑based offence (4) A person commits an offence if the person contravenes subsection (3). Penalty: Imprisonment for 5 years or 300 penalty units, or both. Civil penalty provision (5) A person is liable to a civil penalty if the person contravenes subsection (3). Civil penalty: 600 penalty units.
