Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This notice reserves the 27.5–28.35 GHz band across Australia for allocation via spectrum licences (area-based, flexible rights) rather than individual equipment permits. It affects telcos, satellite operators and the communications regulator.

Notably, the range includes the upper limit (28.35 GHz) but excludes the lower limit (27.5 GHz). The move enables commercial licensing of high-capacity fixed wireless and satellite services.
