Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does: This determination sets the mandatory condition that must be satisfied before an accredited expert can issue a certificate allowing a radio transmitter to operate in the 27 GHz frequency band (26.5–27.5 GHz).

Who it affects: Businesses or individuals seeking to operate transmitters under a spectrum licence in this specific frequency range, plus the accredited persons responsible for certifying equipment compliance.

Why it matters: To keep the airwaves clear, the legislation requires that an accredited person must be satisfied the transmitter will not cause "unacceptable levels of interference" (as defined in a separate technical determination). This creates a safeguard ensuring new devices in this high-frequency band do not disrupt existing services.
