Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument cancels (revokes) old rules that restricted radio activity near a specific scientific facility.

What it does:

Removes the Radiocommunications Advisory Guidelines (Protection of Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope) 1998
These guidelines previously restricted radio transmissions near the Molonglo Observatory Synthesis Telescope (MOST) — a radio telescope near Canberra — to prevent interference with its sensitive equipment

Who it affects:

People and businesses operating radio equipment near the former telescope site in New South Wales (near Bungendore)
Radio licensees who previously had to coordinate with or avoid interfering with the telescope

Why it matters: The revocation removes these specific protection requirements. This likely occurred because the telescope was decommissioned around 2007, meaning the special radio "quiet zone" restrictions were no longer necessary for scientific operations.
